Sydalia Savage earns female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 353 past athlete of the week winners.

This week we had one Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nomination. Sydalia Savage scored the game winner in the regional championship game to send Skowhegan field hockey to their 20th straight state championship game. The freshman is the 11th Skowhegan student/athlete to earn athlete of the week honors. It is the second straight week that a Skowhegan field hockey player has won AOW. Laney LeBlanc earned the honor last week.Laney LeBlanc earned the honor last week. Savage joins Adam Dusty (10-20-11), Marcus Christopher (10-8-17), Ashley Alward (4-23-18), Alexis Michonsk (9-16-18), Adelle Foss (10-7-18), Annie Cook (12-23-18), Sydney Ames (4-22-19), Emily Reichenbach (11-4-19), and Jaycee Christopher (12-23-19), and LeBlanc as student/athletes from Skowhegan high school that have earned athlete of the week honors.

 

Female athlete of the week/November 1st-November 6th

  • Sydalia Savage- Skowhegan- field hockey- the freshman scored the game winning goal with under 4 minutes to play in 2-1 win over Oxtord Hills in class A regional final.
