Dexter high school boys basketball 2022/2023 preview

November 28, 2022

The Dexter Tigers boys basketball team will have  high expectations entering the 2022/2023 season. Dexter is the two time defending regional champions. The Tigers have firepower back to make another deep tourney run.

Dexter returns four players who started at least 10 games for the Northern Maine champions last season. Will Kusnierz will return to lead the way. Bryce Connor, Kayden Kimball, and Will Spratt all started at various times last year in a season that saw many different lineups due to the effects of COVID 19. Connor will give Dexter another solid scoring option if teams decide to focus on slowing down Kusnierz. Kimball and Spratt will also be part of a balance offense. The Tigers will not lack experience or talent. There will be a balance of veteran upperclassmen combined with several untested underclassmen.

Dexter Coach Peter Murray said, “Our commitment to defense and sharing of the ball on offense will be major factors in this year’s team’s ability to be successful.”

Looking to be included in the mix this season will include Ben Bourgoin, Brady Reynolds, Caden Brown, Ethan Doherty, and newcomer Kellen Peavey.

Schedule: The Tigers will open the season at George Stevens on December 9th. The home opener will be December 12th against Mattanawcook. Eastern Maine Sports Media will have live coverage of five Dexter boys games, including at Penquis on December 14th.
