The Thornton Academy duo of Harlow O’Leary and Hadley Stoddard both scored a goal on Tuesday to lead Maine Maritime Academy women’s soccer to a 2-0 season opening non-conference win over UMaine-Augusta in Castine.
Isa Thesing and Natalie Johnson each made two saves in net to combine for the shutout for MMA. The Mariners outshot the Moose 23-4 (17-3 on net). Abigail Hynes made 17 stops in goal in the loss for UMA. Maine Maritime will host Albion College in their next game on Friday at 7 p.m., while UMaine-Augusta opens their home schedule when they welcome in Southern Maine Community College to the Capital Area Sports Complex next Wednesday at 4 p.m.
