Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. If you want to sponsor the female or male athlete of the week email Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. Use that same email to send your nominations in during the week. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 355 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had one Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nomination. Simon Allen put up 38 points to lead Central to a season opening win over Sumner. Allen joins Max McHugh (5) (1-13-13), Andrew Speed (2) (5-22-17), Jordn Smith (1-18-14),Libby Cook (12-6-15),Sydney Allen (4) (6-3-18),Caleb Shaw (1-1-17), Gage Poulin (4-29-18), James Doucette (2-4-19), Rylee Speed (2) (9-22-22), and Izzy Allen (2) (3-8-21) as student/athletes from Central high school that have earned athlete of the week honors. Simon and his sisters Sydney and Izzy as only the second family to have three siblings earn athlete of the week. They join Raychel, Katherine, and Allisyn Alley from Stearns.
