Will Kusnierz earns male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. If you want to sponsor the female or male athlete of the week email Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. Use that same email to send your nominations in during the week. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 361 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had four Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nomination. Will Kusnierz averaged 24.5 points, nine rebounds, and 3.5 assists in leading Dexter to a pair of wins.  Kusnierz joins Jordyn Bell (9-22-11), David McKusick (2-11-12), Peyton Watson (3) (9-21-14), Trevor Fogarty (2) (10-20-13), Libby Kain  (2) (4-21-13), Katie Batron (10-5-14), Brayden Miller (2) (6-11-17), Megan Peach (3) (2-27-17), Hannah Dorman (9-3-16), Zachary White (10-15-16), Tyler Beem (11-6-16), Nathan Richards (6-4-17), Hayley Rossman (2) (10-1-17), Matt Richards (9-10-17), Peyton Grant (10)(2-16-21), Jacob Bickford (5-20-18), Avery Herrick (5) (6-10-21), and Avery Gagnon (10-6-21) as student/ athletes from Dexter high school that have earned athlete of the week honors.


Male athlete of the week December 26th- January 1st

  • Will Kusnierz – Dexter – basketball- had 25 points, five rebounds, and three assists in 60-57 win over Central.  Recorded 24 points, 13 rebounds, five steals, four assists, and three blocks in 43-17 over PVHS

Runner up

  • Austin Delisle- Fort Kent- basketball- had 29 points in 55-48 win over Hodgdon. Recorded 18 points, 16 rebounds, six assists and six steals in 63-30 win over Katahdin. Delisle has helped Fort Kent start the season 5-0.
  • Simon Allen- Central – basketball- had 25 points (18 in first half) and five 3-pointers in 60-57 loss to Dexter.
  • Noah Hurd- Mount View- basketball- scored 30 points, including 17 points and 5 three pointers in the first quarter in 79-51 win over Washington Academy.
